CEMETERIES--Iyanough's gravesite in Cummaquid

I have known of the gravesite for years. BUT was always aware it was quite a hike from the road sign on route 6A. So waiting for weather to be decent and energy levels to be there, and a parking spot close by.

Well today I figured was perfect- the skies were blue, the air was warmish for December and I would guess the wild overgrowth had died back. I should have worn orange, but was lucky this time for someone last week shot a cocker spaniel .

So I headed down rt 6A and took a left onto Rue Michelle. Haven't been down that road in over 6 years. Went to the end and turned around and parked off the road . Walked across 6A took pix of the sign and surrounding houses.

Please excuse my freaking shadow like a photo bomb!

so I trudged forward. We have had rain for a solid month- good thing I had on my Timberlands for it was wet, muddy, marshy, slippery and down right dangerous underfoot. Fallen trees to dodge and climb over and plenty of thicket to poke out an eye or two. Had on glasses! I was beginning to think it was a wild goose chase until I saw the stone after 10 minutes of winding path

^^^ that is the gravesite from afar.

ghosts :)

The return- thank goodness there were no forks in the path to choose from! Looked totally different on the way back. Climbing over a fallen tree my jeans caught onto a branch that was sticking up- try to release that sometime while straddling a downed tree!

This time I went alone- it would have been so much fun with a child or a willing adult.

ART-Knit & Walk part 2

Just completed another triangle scarf that I will give away,2 sleep socks that I just finished sewing together. Made another cowl- this time pink and knit in the round completely. I like the way the child's hat turned out. I saw yarn in AC Moore for 1.99 a skein for a knit for a child project. I knew I could never do a sweater so I hope the two hats will be fine.
size 7 circular needles, cast on 63 stitches and connect and knit in the round until it is 7 inches from hem to hem. Then no sewing needed just tie the top together with yarn like a paper sack. I think it is cute. And in the process it figured the gauge for me to do leg warmers!

next hat will be more masculine colors. :)

ART-Knit & Walk completed

I will still knit & walk it sure makes the 50 minutes inside exercising fly by! But I have accomplished the goal of knitting scarves , cowls and shawls for 3 food pantries who accept donated clothing. The 3 are located in areas where Mom was born, lived and grew up. It was her yarn used in each piece- yarn she left behind when she passed away in November 2008. Took me almost 5 years to regain the dexterity needed to knit. Project began March 2014 and completed today November 14th 2014.
One shawl went to each pantry , 2 cowls or neck warmers, and 5 scarves of various lengths. I had to buy boxes for mailing and postage all totaling almost $25.00. The yarn was free to me!

Plain colors long scarves- funny how the colors show differently.

cowls & neck warmers. I love knitting the cowls in the round with a circular needle.
