FAMILY-Thornton Burgess Bedtime Stories

When I babysat back in the 60s and 70s my favorite book to read to children was Thornton Burgess Bedtime stories. I remember one little girl asking if her Dad looked like Buster Bear.Danny Meadow Mouse was my favorite character.

Funny thing. In 2008 and 2009 when I was preparing to move and also sorting through belongings I went through many books and left many behind gave some away. Ran across this book was up on a top shelf.

I opened it up and much to my surprise it had belonged to my father and was a gift to him from Uncle Elliott and Aunt Elizabeth [Hollenback] Xmas 1924 or 1929 I cannot tell by the handwriting.

Okay so all the years of living here I never got to visit the Thortnon Burgess Society or Green Briar Farm. Finally did with two facebook friends in April 2015.

FAMILY-Providence the Nitty Gritty

First off a bus view of the North Cemetery as I left Providence! I saw an open gate after hours . View of the railroad bridge with the Canon. far far away.

Elmwood Avenue where my mother was born, breach birth November 30 1923.Empty packet of cremains that were sprinkled.

More Elmwood Avenue-

Grace Church Cemetery- the place is old , historic and many toppled stones, either from vandalism or the weather. And so much partying trash & clothing. good grief.

Finding Joan and finding out she grew up in the house on Turner Avenue in Attleboro where my great great grandparents lived. and that they were her great grandparents. She likes purple & blue and true to family tradition- she has her photo taken standing near the family gravestone. :)

Locust Grove Cemetery- Elmwood Avenue- across the street from where Mom was born

North Burial Ground. They close at 4pm.oh well got some pix anyhow.

okay then we drove around looking for 84 Doyle, Lexington Avenue and Columbus pointing there, Arlington Avenue and a lot of cool houses!and the search for a Dunkin Donuts for some black coffee.

Then the Park! where the zoo is located- we did not venture there.Swans- large & plastic and the real.

Last but not least- finally met a cousin I knew I had but it took 30 years- this is Zach's Trader Joe tuna shrimp creation.
