BEACH-Sandwich Boardwalk

Ventured back there on a sunny day.

and in returning took a different route and found the Boston & Sandwich Glass Museum "memorial" among other things. Still didn't get to the Sandwich Glass Museum, probably just as well I hate paying admission :D I wonder if a selfie stick would help in taking photos of large plaques at an angle.

I see a duplicate photo- too bad- not going to even attempt an edit.

***
Driving down 6A from Chatham take a right onto Liberty road, and it is either Dewey or Factory that lead you to the potholed Boardwalk road. A long board walk leads to a panoramic view of the ocean. There are no railing on most of it and it is narrow. I turned around when a man & a dog approached.

a blue sky would have been nice but...

High tide and a blue sky would have been great.

HISTORY-Falmouth Poor House

Falmouth Poor House also known as Alms house, work house and artist colony. The rules were pretty simple if you did the work assigned to you you had a roof over your head and food. If you refused to do the simple work or were troublesome to the rest of the household they could hire you out for hard labor.
This is located next to the Methodist Society Burial ground on rt 28 in Falmouth. There is a memorial stone inside the cemetery noting the people buried there without a gravestone.

I had heard about the poor house years ago and each town had one. Never knew it was right next door to a cemetery I had documented back in 2010.

I always laugh at the sign about going the "wrong way" it is the road to the police station, full of pot holes and so tempting to turn around illegally and leave.

Will try to find out if the "house" is open to the curious. Looks like a builder occupies the place now.

BEACH-Harding's- first non windy day of Spring

A spur of the moment walk on Harding's beach this morning after dropping off Netflix. Not a lot of photos but I walked all the way around the curve at the end beyond the lighthouse. On the return walk met up with a couple visiting from western Massachusetts. He had a super camera with a 400 zoom lens. Mine may be a single digit zoom LOL. She is studying business so she can open her own quilt shop. They have a time share near Bass River. I don't think I have talked for 44 minutes non stop in years . Walking and talking is not my strong point but is great exercise for the brain & lungs.

the walk out

approaching the curve from low tide

rounding the bend beyond the stone revetment and the private light house. wow.

it was that yellow rusting piece of equipment that made me trudge on. I was already tired!

the return rust - tarmac- tennis ball- lots of lacquer shells (jingle shells)

then the three of us spied a dead gull- oops no a dead duck. I have never seen a dead duck on this beach or anywhere for that matter.Hope it wasn't the victim of target practice.

Then my trophies: lacquer shells , flat stone, a piece of glass but not "beach glass". Curious why I never find glass. I guess I need a barefoot for that.oh and a golf ball!
