2022 : OWL PELLET KIT

November 3

I bought an owl pellet kit with an amazon gift card last Winter. I have been waiting for a sunny wind free day to open this. no joking.

It took me 50 minutes to soak wash and pick at the 2 pellets.LOTS of fur and grime soaked off. a few bones. Pix of the stages of cleaning. They are out there now drying in the sun I hope. It would take a bath in carbolic acid for me to even think about bringing this inside. LOL But glad I did it as an experiment with me and nature.

oh and they pack the mask and gloves in with the foil wrapped pellets. yikes

Day 2

after soaking over night in peroxide I rinsed the bones again and set in the sun. Then brought them up here to sun dry on the deck. The wind on the way almost upset the dish and scattered the bones. Almost. geez. I used an empty white vinegar bottle to hold the bones and peroxide.

Owl Pellet Bones

I would have had better lighting if changing the Brita filter did not take so much time! good grief. I will try again when in the mood. But these owl pellet bones photographed separately with shadows looks pretty cool to me.

2022: DRIVER'S LICENSE RENEWAL- RANT

You will get 6 months bill absolutely free of cost however if you want bill for more than 6 months then there will be a charge of $8.30 charged on your next bill. Is that okay with you?

I have to renew my driver's license in person in January. This time they need social security card, birth certificate and 2 proofs of address I will be working on my toothy smile until then. ( sarcasm

)
In the mean time I have to contact Verizon and GM card to send me a bill in the mail with address on it. I do all bill pay online no mail. so this morning I tackled Verizon and get this-

My answer was - no not okay but I have no choice. I will switch back as soon as possible.

Knowing the mail service here I wonder.

2022: NEW WINDOWS-RANT & JOY

 October 12

Monday morning I took trash below and added kitchen scraps to the compost pile. I saw Patrick pull up, he is the carpenter. He called my name  and told me the windows are in and he will install them Tuesday the next day. We agreed upon 7am . I let out a woo hoo!. When he showed up at 7 I had to take a picture- I could not believe my eyes. The windows would get replaced that were damaged in the tornado of 2019. I could not open the ones in the sun room where I usually kept my lap top. Too hot this Summer so that has been in the living area on the harvest table.

The noise was unreal. I helped to clean up when I could. We were infested with huge black ants so I sprayed alcohol on them. He worked alone- lugging the frames up the outside stairs and then the window inserts. He let stuff drop out the window holes when it was old.He did the trim inside and out. a lot of water damage  and wood rot.

that's an old Febreze bottle with alcohol inside to spray on any insect.

also dealt with mold- sprayed that with a  Clorox type of cleaner. Thank goodness windows and doors were open.

then at 9:47 I noticed a dent in the refrigerator. oh for shame! LOL

debris below

my door below was blocked with debris so I asked DelRoy to move it anywhere LOL he put it all with the rest. Ben Nick showed up later and scooped it away.

this is where we both decided new wood for trim was the right thing to do

my trusty tools for clean up- an old cheap broom from the 70s and an LLBean snow shovel I had in the back of my car for eons

outside taking pix of the new windows- first the sun room one and then a tour of the cardboard trash from the health club. I no longer want the wild shrubs cut back. I need that blocked from my view.

so after every one cleared out I took a grape break and wanted to go for a walk on the bike path. nope. huge construction equipment in the way of the short cut to get there. On the way though I saw new signs at that rotary. ha ha. good luck with that.

oh and a cool car 1946 Hudson Super 6 (Commodore 8?) 4 door Sedan

So came up here and got ready for making supper. ate it and then realized I probably ate off a bowl that had dry wall dust on it. oh well. So after supper I put all dishes exposed in the dishwasher and what was left over I hand washed.

oh and brother showed up tired I wanted him to see the inside. later maybe- He told me Kar was going through yarn and a bag of it was on the chair for me. OH wow what a marvelous selection- but those photos will go on my dropstitch ditdit blog.

Then ! the smell of the new wood was getting to me so I searched google for fixes and the general consensus was wipe down with half water half white vinegar. I did full strength vinegar TWICE and slept with windows open.

so Wednesday I had to do a hand wash because it is supposed to rain Thursday and Friday. Did that then came in here to deep clean the rest of the apartment. That debris was everywhere. I have a clothes rack on wheels and everything was dusted with that debris. ugh The silk blouses had to be hand washed. And they are relatively light weight. But this time, first time in over 30 years of owning the silk shirts- the button hole loops had shrunk so I could not unbutton to dry.

repeat myself. I had to copy and paste from facebook for details.

My bad I should have covered it with a sheet- but it still would have seeped in. So while hanging out the washable silks I have to do by hand. They are over 30 years old- and this time the button hole loops shrunk. That was fun. But in vacuuming and wiping down the rack and hangers it brought back memories of a former boy-man friend. Back in the 80s I used to color coordinate my clothes with the hanger. no big deal. I thought it was fun. Well he made fun of it. I remember my feeling of resentment to this day. But as I got older. Like after I stopped seeing him I no longer hung things by color. But I still have those hangers. And I color coordinated them today. Just to be obstinate? no because it looks cool- like a new box of crayons. pix attached. also photo of the kitchen window with trim- not sure why that was never in the first batch. oh well.

I will link here to the yarn blog once I get that going and if I remember.

October 27

so either DelRoy or I will be painting and staining. I am attempting little by little to do bits here and there. I sanded the bright work in the kitchen. That's a start

I sanded the spots on the door where the huge magnetic WIDE LOAD sign was too. Magnet now covers the dent on refrigerator from new windows.:)

After all that I put the cabinet curtains back up, hoping for no more "debris"
