2022: NEW DOOR BELOW

This will take a while to record but it started thus:

so I get back here all hot and bothered. Ready to unload groceries . I unlocked the downstairs door. It unlocked but would not open. Stuck. It did this the other day and I just kicked it and it opened. No kick worked on this. I went upstairs and came down and tried to yank it from inside nope nothing worked and I was starting to "feel" the effects of the kicking. So I had to unload food up the outside stairs which have a different rise to them and are ball busters. But I got it done. All except the water jug I bought. A gallon of water up a flight of stairs. So I quickly emailed and facebook messaged my brother to come and kick in the door and leave it open. Pull up the storm window to the storm door and I would make do with that. working so far. I saw a car drive through last night through the Mersevey cut through though and slow down and "look" So I went below and hung a dark scarf over that window and came up here and used my burglar post lock for the upstairs door.

I ordered a new entry door and a storm door and hardware through Home Depot. It should arrive this Friday. we will see. 600  bucks and a 79.00 delivery fee. Beats Jer having to take the time and truck to Hyannis and pick them up though.

I am sure there will be updates here. LOL

October 17

told jer door still too tight and mentioned to him the method of fixing it is longer screws into the hinges. So it turned out the screw were short and the hinges were not installed peoperly at the factory, door still tight but I can shut it. Just needs an extra strip of wood to the right in the jam and the catch screw to be removed for the bolt. Then drill a better hole and screw it back so the bolt locks all the way

October 30 & 31

Brother showed up yesterday afternoon and painted the outside of the new door below. I detected a bit of surprise when I told him and showed him the color I got ( dark paint will need 2 coats look). the soft grey will be for inside but I got magenta for the outside. The purples in the hardware store looked too much like maroon. So after first coat he went off to deliver a bill and hoped to get paid. While he was out I secured the door up here and did recycling. He was back soon and finished the second coat.  Masking tape removed Monday and door closed.

Well would have been nicer to have it sunny and warmer when I tackled painting the upstairs door myself. I used to LOVE to paint. Now feel like I was molested by a pretzel maker. Of course my brother got paint NO WHERE but where it is supposed to go. My style is to get paint everywhere else. I have not seen LAVA soap on the shelves in years, but bought a St Ives exfoliating body wash thinking it would revive the youthful glow of my body like my 30s. Well that failed. But happy to announce it works better than LAVA for removing paint from face & hands. I will wait until the last minute today to put knobs back on and close door.

after finishing up/giving up I looked out the front windows and saw a National Grid van out front parked across the entrance to the parking lot. if I had felt better and was not a hot mess I would have walked up and asked what was going on, but nope not up for that LOL wonder if it was blue eyes hot stuff though
