2025-WILDFLOWER GARDEN EXPERIMENT

I planted the wildflower seeds in  6 pots below and as an experiment placed  plates of glass from broken picture frames over the pots- like a cold frame of sorts. We will see in 10 days if seedlings appear. Some seeds were the size of a dried garbanzo bean!

ditched the glass.

need to note here before I forget- I fertilzed pots and honeysuckle with Osmocote May 30

2025: MAY

so got out before breakfast for a 20 minute walk with the rollator. Not the most comfortable walk- it is like pushing a wheel barrow with the angle my arms are out front of me. I will have to tweak that and have something I can grab like a shopping cart. Or walk with just a cane . Took plenty of pix to prove to myself I did it LOL.

will add more lateer maybe.

May 6
Did 5 rounds of walking in the parking lot first thing this morning without cane or rollator. one extra round trying to tweak the rollator for my comfort, height and my hands. Set to maximum height and either or or both cane and dowel slipped through seems to work. Final  result no photo because it was such a task getting the rollator back inside I ran out of steam.Like me parallel parking with a blindfold. A little more adjusting and I should be able to EVENTALLY make it to the post office and back.

RULE #1 NEVER GO BAREFOOT HERE
Finishing up doing dishes and fixing my usual mug of mint tea for the evening. Drying a spoon rest and tiny tea cup at the same time. dropped the tea cup. smithereens on the floor. side stepped the mess while finishing drying dishes. Sighed knowing I had to go down the stairs to retrieve my "new"broom and dust pan. My old (40 years) broom broke last year and I had  never owned a dust pan. So got to use that tonight. what the heck are those teeth for on the dust pan?Shards traveled 12 feet by the way.

One hour of walking usually gives me a healthy appetite. Today nope- I craved a cigarette and wanted to eat my body weight in dark chocolate and was ready to strip down to my underwear I was so hot. LOL

well got out there with rollator and headed to the post office to mail a package and liquor store to get lottery ticket. Left here at 10:39am and back in this parking lot 2 minutes before noon. CRAP that was torture. I think there was smooth surface for 1/8 of a mile when I was on the bike path. Nice to have people stop and let me cross the street etc. BUT the roads are awful. Pot holes, broken utility caps in the road, uneven surfaces. Heavy doors to stores that do not stay open long enough, an employee assisted me in getting out of the liquor store. Post office the right hand door is broken , left hand door awkward so I backed in with the rollator. A new bench on the bike path was a welcome sight. I sat still for 5 minutes and solved all the world's problem. Nice view of blue sky.

Get while the getting is good. A bulldozer will  be coming through here soon. So I wanted to check out what all the noise has been about at the sewer entrance. A short walk turned into 30 minutes of course. No major changes to the area but maybe big piles of dirt. A lone needle pine is thriving back there- my favorite evergreen. Fed birds and checked mail box and back inside by 7:30am. Nice when an old path remains relatively unchanged.

May 30
Walked to liquor store for lottery and need to check mailers at Post office. Took me an hour and 20 minutes. A walk that used to take 40 minutes tops. On my way I noticed the ice cream shop had installed a mat to make walkers, wheelchairs easier to use. I did not try the rollator on it. I was on a mission. Looks like the ramp at post office complex is still a mess. and post office door still broken. Looks to me like an absentee landlord's typically being a slum lord. That may be too harsh. think not.

2025: APRIL

Laundry day for pick up and delivery. I drop the bags off the deck hoping they land on the chairs below- a fun game LOL  they pick it up and deliver it a few hours later. I used to have a sign on the chairs to leave laundry on the chairs. Invariably it is delivered on the chairs or the guy is brave enough to climb the outside stairs and plunk on the deck.

This is what greeted his  sight LOL so now just about everyone has been frightened by my panties getting their solar charge for my wonder woman  super powers.

April 6

Baby steps

Stopped raining long enough for me to check mailbox and feed birds. also moved 4 bricks. one at a time. now a nap is screaming my name.

**************

April 17

was able to do 5 rounds in 15 minutes in the parking lot with the rollator. I had to clear out the stairwell below so my brother can change lightbulbs for me- that gave me incentive- moving broom, walker, rollator outside. First round had to adjust the height of the handle bars. One round of that was too high. Finally got it right but clothes still hang heavy on my shoulders. So until I can walk naked outside I will never be happy.  Nice day out there - may do another "spin" later. Still toting the cane for a weapon.

or  maybe a nap.

April 24 2025

I designed it and Jer's men did the heavy work. Feels good underfoot and should make a great path for me and the rollator. Getting impatient getting my strength back! Blue stone slates from old outdoor shower and patterned stones from bird feeder area. They moved some flower pots for me as well.

2025: PHOTO DUMP FROM INACTIVITY WHILE RECUPERATING from 2024

No particular order but going through photo files of pix I took while too incapacitated by fall and covid.
July 2024

laundry

apparently I dropped the laundry below for delRoy on the 2nd of July and it was picked up Wednesday and delivered Wednesday but I did not retrieve it until Thursday July 4th.

Boiught a Kindle Fire that did not work so was returned not without a hassle oh now I rememberf I could not get it to do English as a language

The garden I planted in June was a disaster I could not get out there to water so my onlt enjoyment was the hydrangeas I could see from the deck.

April 2024

Almost 9 months ago I fell backwards and hit my head and cracked bones etc and managed to get covid so they found when I was in the emergency room. No joke I am still recovering. But my hobby for almost 20 years was documenting gravestones. It took me until TODAY to be able to work on my photo files of what I had done in 2024 and before. I was trying to update my blog at the same time and gave up as the blog had glitches. But it sure felt good to label 4-5 gravestone pix just now from April 2024. I can feel the cold air on my face from that day like it was today. These were all stone they had dug up and were going to re-set. Though I will never get out there again and see the results I did accomplish something

felt good to be able to accomplish this at last. My brain felt like it froze when I tried for 8 months.

2025: MARCH

ah finally- food order up here and wiped off and ready to put away. Took over an hour. The driver offered to bring it up here-  but I need the exercise. His car smelled like Dead Zone from up on my deck. So now I get to finally finish the last part of breakfast- hot black coffee and pumpernickel toast with red raspberry jam. My food order treats this week are Dutch Pee Wee potatoes and classic round crackers. always seeking a slightly salty treat cracker that does not misalign my jaw with its rusticness or cur the roof of my mouth. who eats those cedar shake shingles anyhow?

2025-FEBRUARY

well late start adding to February and will be out of ordeal per usual

February 12

so I came in here to play dordle and eat my lunch. I hovered over some bull shit about "do not shut down" and it talking at me. Shut down computer and wanted to do a system restore. That took forever. I wanted a piece of toast. and this happened. so I ended up moving my problem lamp ( do not ask) and here we are almost 2 hours later. One slice of bread went into the toaster itself. That was fun removing.

February 9

Finally switched out my stress balls.

the purple one was a baseball and a freebie from CCB7T or TD Bank - the Chatham Office has to be over 10 years old. When it started to crumble and wear out I would cover it with purple duct tape. Then in 2024 I was looking for a replacement and saw this one which came with a basketball backboard and hoop with net LOL  I will hook that up some day but for now it is part of my hand exercises routines
