Last night late, I was browsing my tree and thought I would work on the Sobers and find death dates for those with blanks. First one was Alexander Jordan Sober. After a little bit of snooping and research I found him in a stack of papers I printed up back in 2002! I guess when I was new to this and had a printer with an endless supply of ink LOL Had wife Sarah Jane Gearhart, two daughters Martha no dates and Stella b 1869. Well I entered them in the tree- no information popped up for the wife Sarah nor for Martha but a death certificate for Stella came up that she died in 1962. wow over 90 years old! I had someone from a group on facebook with RAOGK post the death certificate . Of course it lists parents unknown! Informant Clyde Davis. Has her listed as buried in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Riverside Northumberland Pennsylvania. searched for other Sobers there and Alexander Jordan was there. died in 1876. More research and the wife Sarah claimed veteran pension. But in 1880 the two girls are in an orphan school Mount Joy Soldiers Orphans School in Mount Joy Pennsylvania. I reasoned that Sarah Jane must have died as well before 1880.
so here are the details from censuses and some images. I was able to flesh out Sarah Jane and her parents and brothers and sisters but they do not show up on findagrave.
