2023: CHANGES IN RADIO STATIONS

 Still ignoring WCOD except for the occasional Kevin Matthews

spend most of listening hours avoiding holiday music

This will take awhile to sort out but I think there are 3 different radio companies and WOMR now.

Y101-listen to th9is for new music and Dan Mahoney- and Mason Kelter at night

FRANK 93.5- this I listen to since most of the other stations have holiday music but I prefer 99.9 the Q!

KOFFEE 100.5-101.5-103.5- will have to check this out.

2023: LIBRARY, TOWN MEETINGS, MONOMOY WILDLIFE REFUGE PATH

 

I was in an email letter writing mood today

Town meeting first- 

Hello William Galvin,

I have been voting in Chatham since 1969 when I turned 21. First few years it was no problem going to Town Meetings. I was within walking distance and not working OR being a caregiver.

Ever since 2001 it has been impossible to attend. And I had to do absentee ballot for elections. But town meetings denied me the vote. Either abolish the town meetings or make it so we can at least vote absentee on the issues.

I have contacted the town about this and told it was the law for town meetings to be attended. I am sure that "law" was written when the population was small and people attended because there was nothing else to do.Then I emailed  Julian Cyr and never heard back. That happens a lot with elected officials sad to say. Not happy about 500 people making decisions for 5,000 people.

So I hope this will be different.

Monomoy Wildlife Refuge-

Please fix the path that goes from the parking lot to the lookout platform. It is extremely dangerous underfoot. The worn out tarmac is tolerable but the sudden drops where  "steps " used to be is not. I had to hold onto a tree to the left going down that  path. The climb back up is crazy steep. Nothing can be done about that other than a roped railing for something to guide and steady people. Thank you.

Library- they are in the process of removing 2 trees and I wanted photos- then this happened so.

There was a holiday display at the top of the steps front of the library that blocked use of the railing

Hello,

 this may be a violation of ADA rules not sure. But for anyone with only one strong arm it would be impossible to climb the steps safely. The display is in the way of the rail.

 Now while I have your ear- will someone ever do anything about that heavy hard to open door in front? Many of us have to park elsewhere and walk. Then get to that door. Going around to the other side and up that hill is not an option!

That door is heavy!  It's also 125 years old so not much I think we

can do, but I will look into it.  Part of our upcoming safety and

accessibility updates to the property will include an ADA graded

walkway around the building to the side entrance.  We are working

towards making the building more accessible!

Thank-you for bringing this to our attention.  I've reviewed the conditions of this trail and will develop a solution to reduce the steepness of the steps.

Over the past several years we have been experiencing an unprecedented rate of erosion which may ultimately claim this trail as it has so many others on the Morris Island portion of the Refuge. Any railings we install, rope or otherwise, would have to meet safety guidelines and until the erosion stops, the costs for a project like this would make it prohibitively expensive given our current resources and the chance that we would likely have to demolish it in the near future.

Thank you for the  reply.

I understand the constant erosion, and the funding problem. It actually is an unnecessary path and lookout. The causeway or dyke is sufficient though parking sucks at the dyke.

How about placing caution tape or a caution horse blocking the way. There are already plenty of signs that people ignore so a sign would be silly. Steepness is not the real problem but that plank sticking up is.

2023: LADY OF THE DUNES CRIME SOLVED

 August 28 

PROVINCETOWN, Mass. —

A notorious murder mystery that's gripped Cape Cod for decades is now a closed case.

A woman's dismembered body, which had her hands cut off in an effort to hide her fingerprints, was discovered in the dunes of Race Point in Provincetown on July 26, 1974.

Police believed the woman was killed several weeks before her body was found.

For years, she was unidentified, known only as the "lady of the dunes." Investigators worked for decades to identify her through various means, including neighborhood canvasses, reviews of thousands of missing-person cases, clay model facial reconstruction and age-regression drawings, officials said.

Just last year, investigators were finally able to identify her as Ruth Marie Terry, 37, of Tennessee, using a process known as forensic genetic genealogy, which can reach deeper into a victim or suspect's family tree.

The official cause of death was listed as blunt-force trauma to the head with signs of strangulation and sexual assault. In addition to both hands being amputated, it appeared the killer also tried to remove her teeth, officials said.'

On Monday, the District Attorney's office officially concluded that Terry's husband, Guy Muldavin, was responsible for her death.

Terry married Muldavin and the newlyweds traveled in the summer of 1974. But he returned alone driving her vehicle, telling her relatives they had a fight during their honeymoon and he had not heard from her again.

"My father, well, he left in '74, he went to California looking for her. And her husband at the time said she sold everything she had and joined a cult," said nephew John Randall Terry.

Muldavin was also the prime suspect in the disappearance of his prior wife and stepdaughter in the 1960s.

Muldavin died in 2002.

2023: AMAZING FACTS-STONEHENGE,PYRAMIDS AND TAOS PUEBLO

 Amazed recently to find that Stonehenge is older than the pyramids in Egypt.Then I stumbled upon Taos Pueblo

well my toaster oven just set off the smoke detectors and I had to call the fire department. They would not stop blasting. They stopped after 20 minutes- they are leaving now.LOL there must have been 15 of them. ha ha

Toaster arrived late yesterday afternoon. It replaces the smoky remains of my toaster oven. I "toasted " it a few times to get rid of the vinyl smell. Was great having toast this morning!

2023: RANT- WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

 I would say Chatham's website is the most non user friendly of all. I composed the note below and clicked to have a copy sent to me. And submitted. what does it do? ends up looking like I sent a message to the "sticker office" it was meant for the board of health. so freaking frustrating

"I live in Commerce Park next to the Waste Water Treatment plant. I can somewhat tolerate an occasional whiff of sewer BUT Saturday July 1 2023 was all day long. It permeated everything. Sunday was just a little less. I feel this is a fruitless effort reporting this as it has gone on for years. But I do not know what else to do. I cannot afford an air purification system.
