June 29 2021
I have always been sensitive to noise and smell.
Been here since 2009 and I am pretty sure all of the offenses are multiplied and daily.
Glare first and foremost since I was a child. This year it seems more severe and I have various scarves hanging at all the windows to filter out the worst. Boats were in the parking lot below all Winter with white tarpaulins glaring all day all night. yes even in pitch black they pick up and light and magnify it. Security lights come on and I have to shield a window so it is not in my eyes.
Any evening a parade of drag racers fill the air with soot and noise. LOUD. not once but repeatedly.
But yesterday a Monday was special. It was very hot for here but a breeze coming in the front windows had both open top and bottom. Well I had put a clean wash out to dry and was going to vacuum. Hot as it was the breeze made it tolerable. All of a sudden the apartment was filled with the smell of moth balls. I shut the front windows and angrily finished the vacuuming. It was still strong. So I went below. I had to make sure I was not angry and accusatory. I asked him to park his truck somewhere else as it was filling the apartment with that smell. He said he would in 5 minutes.Well of course it was more than 5 when it was moved. I also asked him when Patrick was going to get to the window replacement. Of course he spoke to Patrick before moving the truck. So I ended up with a migraine and a right eye that felt like it would pop out of my head. Spoiled my appetite for lunch but had a grilled pumpernickel and catsup sandwich that revived me. The oozing catsup "grilled" and was real tasty.. I was able to catch hi m later to ask what Patrick said and Patrick said he would measure the windows that day and they would get ordered. This has been since June 2019.so.
Needless to say Patrick never measured the windows. Unless he did it silently.
So today the boat finally moves and they start the engines. Close windows again! Had to move the lap top out here as too hot in the other room. Scarf up at window to catch the glare from the bays. A while ago it smelled like someone was burning tires or smoking meat.
I get no peace.
Around July 4th each year I get treated to the noxious odors and loud noise of the antique fire engine oh joy.

I just cannot win. The firefighters are back polishing chrome on the antique fire truck. I have kitchen window open for air- and the fumes from that come up here. Closed window quietly and reluctantly.

There were 5 guys here- one mighty fine in a white tee shirt. All polishing the firetruck. Keven took them for a ride.
