January 4
while in Wellfleet headed to Uncle Tim's bridge and taking the wrong turn! saw this for sale. I know it used to be a restaurant but cannot remember which one.
blurred because I had someone on my tail.January 8
while in Orleans food shopping I also wanted to see a few changes- Cuffys etc.
at the point near the new rotary used to be Howard Johnson's it has been various things after that but now is Lost Dog Pub
I think it is the only former Howard Johnson's that does not look like one.
To the left of the Cuffy's is an empty building I had to ask on facebook what is was. I thought a pricey restaurant and then a juice bar youth center- but the answer was The Arbor Restaurant and Binnacle Tavern below. Been empty for awhile so they say.
Then Cuffy's still has sign up. But Chatham and Orleans are closed- Provincetown still open and then the big new Cuffy's complex in West Dennis.
Orleans.

On your left as you turn down Morris Island Road is a house that once was small. owned by a man named Saunders who wore fabulous ties. It has been expanded over the years and now looks like the windows are boarded up. Not sure why, if they are brokden or for protection from the elements.

Brewster Manor Nursing home used to be in this location. Later a few other nursing homes and assisted living but all failed. Now it is Serenity Apartments from affordable- to luxury I contacted them curious what they consider "affordable". I have a couple of friends who want to move back to the Cape and a couple of friends who would like to retire at the age of 75 but cannot afford to since rents are so high. It will be interesting if I get an answer and what the rent is.

on way to Rock Harbor I passed by Jailhouse Tavern- I used to go there with Mom and order their mixed greens salad- very little lettuce lots of vegetables. Took forever to chew but was tasty likely the olive oil and onions helped. My brother was there one night and a woman was choking a nd he saved her life with the Heimlich Maneuver .
So I noticed this time that Hogs Head Brewery is there I guess they share space now. Busy road- not much chance for looking!
and on the way saw the Odd Fellows Hall up on a hill- never noticed THAT before and looks like it has been restored/cleaned up
back in Chatham driving through the post office plaza I noticed yellow caution tape. I could not tell what was going on until a week later and I saw new shingles on the building. Pix of that later I hope

Saw on facebook that it was for sale- then when out on errands I saw they had cleared the property of trees to the left of that building. wow

John McGrath has lived on Mill Hill road for over 30 years in an unusual house surrounded by what the neighbors describe as "junk" who knows. I would say more power to him living his own life BUT he is a rude individual and full of road rage. So the other day I was alrted to his son having been arrested for murding a woman in Pennsylvania in front of her two childrem. He then tried to commit suiside. I have heard nothing else. But it made me curious whether the town really did force him to clean up his property. It looks like it is just consolidated.. Who knows. I have not been down that road for years. I notice there are highway guard rails on the right side as you enter.
guard rail in place for years because of a bad auto accident.July 17
I see Chatham Jams and Jelly is for sale, Chatham Cut where New England Pizza was has a sign up and Main Street Pottery is back next to West Chatham Grill this time. All my photos are blurry today. grrr

July 24
had errands to do- recycling my small amount of stuff, CVS , Seaside etc. get gasoline 4.79 this time down from 4.95.
Stopped along the way to check new stuff out.
The Chatham Cut was supposed to open in May. Not sure what happened but still looks like a ways to go. It is where the New England Pizza used to be
Island Pursuit was in the corner business where Mark Fore & Strike used to be. Then moved into a shared area with Chatham Hardware. Now occupies the building where Cuffy's was most recently BUT in the building where Chatham Furniture was next to Pate's.
Main Street Pottery which used to be next to Coach & Four Fudge on Main is now next to West Chatham Grill where D'Angelos used to be and THAT was in front of Chatham Printing. I miss Bud so friendly and nice.

After the disappointing visit to Big Lots I turned down Morton Road to get back here for a change of scenery. Noticed Talkative Pig is gone and now Drifters- will try to get a better photo some day. And on the right more than halfway down the road saw this brick structure in the distance. Turns out to be a water treatment plant for the Chatham wells in the forest there.

Snow's has turned into a furniture store.
I went in there looking for art supplies and there is a circular rack now. used to be a decent department. I have not been in the store for a few years because of the pandemic.
State and towns seem to be cleaning up traffic and roads recently. In Harwich where Chatham Road meets rt 28 near Dave's Garage they have made bold yellow stripes. It is an annoying junction at best. Cars coming fast both directions. But this seems to make the turn more obvious. I am usually taking a left. :)
waiting to get an answer from facebook friends on the name of the yellow stripes.

October 9
