January 3 2021
House being built on Harding's Beach road with a lighthouse- still in progress it seems.
January 9 2021
At the end of Depot street I saw these in the Catholic church parking lot. At first I thought they were going to have pew pods so people could worship together in small groups during covid times. Looks like they may be a prefab house to replace where Willard Nickerson once lived at the other end of Old Harbor Road. That has been torn down and I will have to check that out.
Same day and crappy weather but I went to Seaside as usual and saw that DelRoy must have been working on the family plot all week. Graded and loam added looks terrific.
on the way back to the apartment I noticed the Shop Ahoy sign- had not noticed it before. I will have to get a better shot on a clear day.
January 10 2021
Looks like Pine Tree Landscaping , or just the nursery is going to return. They were cleaning up the property and re hung the sign! Will be interesting to watch.
January 17 2021
AC Moore gone and the sign letter imprint is slowly fading. That is empty and so is World Market near Christmas Tree Plaza.
This gas station near the airport has had many names. Never lasts.
Bass River Marina renovations coming along.
High Performance Audio used to be here
Kristas ice cream is near this renovation not sure whether it was a Song of India store before or giant T shirts LOL
I often wondered what happened to Parkers Liquors in Hyannis. It was a favorite for Mom and me- and the place to take return bottle when that first started in Massachusetts. You would dump them onto a table the guy would sort and count and hand you your money. Now it is blasted machines that jam. ho hum
now Luke's
Pier 1 Imports empty
There is the stone building on rt 6A in Barnstable I cannot remember what it was years ago. Will find out
Kurt Vonnegut’s Saab dealership, Crane Duplicating and Typesetting. Now some other private business. oh and a gas station.1960s Atwood garage sold Harvester equipment. BP gas station 1969.

January 17 2021 Hyannis
There used to be a VFW hall here and Mitchell's Steak House. Both popular spots. I have no idea why both are gone BUT... New construction there will be a new Walgreens and to the left of that an oil change place.
**
I know this happened long ago- but I often wonder why the police moved from this ideal spot to an isolated area. It is not a visitors center. Yarmouth
**
January 23 , 24 , 2021
Those pre fab structures above that were stored in the Catholic church parking lot ended up at 741 Old Harbor Road where Willard and Fran Nickerson of the Chatham Fish Market down at the Chatham fish pier.
This is what it looked like in 2014
now with the pre fab up
others on Old Harbor many changes- a few looks like they did 20 years ago.
near where Earl Hiscock used to live some renovations
***
Main street looks like it has curbside pick up parking marked in some places
Chatham Hardware is now that and Island Pursuit which used to be in the old Mark Fore & Strike building across from the Mayflower
Epicure and Chatham Jewelers
Chatham Cookware and where Mark Fore & Strike and Island Pursuit used to be- that building looks empty.
I will get back to Main street in a bit.
Holway street I wanted to check out Mary Gould's old house . Someone in a chatroom said there was a big house going up. As you enter the street there are signs "PRIVATE". I figured construction is going on can't be that private , I just hoped it would be an easy turnaround. I get to the end of the street and there is a small turnaround and signs no parking no standing etc. They always confuse me a bit. Like who monitors this shit. I called the police non emergency line and asked. She said as long as I do not block a driveway I should be fine. I will go back- the view is spectacular.
Mary's house from a google map
the new construction
RThe rest of this street. I might mention as a side note- back in the 60s I was down at the end of this street with someone I forget who and Chicky McAllister ( now deceased) was in the group and he whips out his big red dick to show me. I feel honored. ha ha
Bert and Carols old place on Orleans Road
Donny and Norman St Pierre's gas station- I really miss them.
Dubis's pit- soon to be a solar farm
Dune Drive
Houses at the end of Main street Chatham
Jones house on Barcliff. It was very plain for many years then the occupants died and the people who bought it are making changes.
Joshua Jethro
someone was complaining about the size of homes on lots on this street. I saw nothing offensive but probably referring to a house that fill the lot. They way I look at that is- less lawn and less fertilizer going into the water table. I will go back and try to capture that one some day it was on the other side of the street.
George Ryder road South.
I think this house is on the land where Bill Whelden had a home.
January 23 2021Main Street Chatham near rotary
I used to work in Ron's Sandwich shop in the early 60s it is now Lily's. I also worked at Coach and Four Fudge and Gift shop 2000-2003 until the owner stopped paying me and I quit. 911 happened while I was working there and that really killed tourist industry.
so to the far left and not showing was where Sonny the barber had a shop many years, then Lily's which was Sandy's diner for a while then she retired and sold. Next to that was Barbara Parent's pottery shop. I saw it was gone and when I got back here I immediately searched internet and found her website. I sent a message. She replied that she closed over a year ago- times got bad and bills were piling up. So now it is A Lon Z no clue what that is. Public Cafe and then Rebecca Jean clothing where Coach and Four once was.
above- where Sonny the barber was now Salon Fabulous
Lily's where Ron's used to be
The potter is now A LON Z
Public Cafe is in part of what was Coach & Four
Rebecca Jean's is the other half of Coach & Four
behind this complex on the parking lot level used to be a hair dresser and Dead Zone- Dead Zone moved to Yarmouth Hearth & Kettle plaza many years ago.
I will try to remember to get pix of the back someday!

I will try to remember to get a photo of the area behind the movie theatre
***
Power lines all across the Cape are being updated. I noticed on the ones on rt 137 that the "steps" have changed from the long stretch of older poles to closer. Obviously the first step would have to be from a bucket truck. LOL
***
ah I had taken a photo of the area behind the CVS movie theatre. used to be many thing one of them Pampered Palette. Now a sub shop and thrift shop
The bays here- the back area where all the utilities hook up- have been over grown for a a year. One guy needs a new gas meter as do we here but our area is clear. BUT National Grid is not doing meter changes during the pandemic. so... but DelRoy cleaned up the back end of January. At the same time the fire department , they have the end bay- have been cleaning up.
so end of January-
Fire department - toilet in truck.
February 5 2021
Main street near Eldedge & Lumpkin Insurance. It has a white chimney with black top which indicates a Tory sympathizer. But I think it is a new structure made to look like something from the 1700s and 1800s. Still interesting change to the scenery.
Old TD Bank formerly CCB&T has changed totally and no more cut through to get to Oyster Pond.
Diagonally across from this is the restaurant Red Nun. Used to be owned by the Snow family. The put this display of lobster pots out each year and I never get to see it lit.Very grateful for them leaving on their wifi- my only form of communication sometimes while doing laundry!
nearby old Dr Weilers office when it was Smith Weiler and Montbach in one building. Now real estate
another white chimney with black rim but building not old enough for it to be historic.
Tina Durham's old place she had real estate in there and a small store if I remember correctly. It was occupied by an artist for about 5 years then all of a sudden I see it empty and for rent/lease
Brewster power lines in Nickerson State Park.

an old auto store in West Harwich- still empty building- moved to Dennis Port new building
Dead Zone used to be ground level in the back of the Colonial Building in Chatham. Moved years ago to a Boch building in West Yarmouth and is now in the Hearth & Kettle Plaza in Yarmouth. I really miss the store and was finally able to get down there when she was open. Went in and she was very busy so I left. When I uploaded these photos I read the store limit for people and realized I would have been one too many.
I was able to get the black sunflower seeds I have been looking for for a few months in the Bird Store.
Bishops Terrace in West Harwich and Column in West Dennis are still vacant and look to be falling apart.
Red Cottage restaurant has been closed for almost a year. Been remodeling and taking advantage of closing for pandemic I guess. Very popular place and always busy in South Dennis

first week in April I was cleaning the truck for my use when the driver's side door would not open. I thought what the heck is going on. How did the worker get out? Then I realized it was parked too close to a boat and I was denting the cover. At first I freaked out thinking I was denting the boat itself! yikes just the cover. phew. The other tear was done by another bigger truck ha ha.

When I worked at Sears and the carnival showed up it promised to be an interesting visit to the rest rooms each time. Someone from the carnival would always be in there doing something strange. Burnt into my memory banks - I was peeing and looked at the floor next to me and saw what looked like baked beans being dropped to the floor.
I think it was not hear in 2019 and 2020- last year because of covid not sure but it is back. While taking these photos I got out of the truck for better views . A woman was in the bus depot kiosk and would pop out and watch me. I so wanted to get a photo of her but was seriously afraid she would come after me and destroy the camera and me LOL
